But tell me a little more about what you mean by anthem. Richard Siken: I had to come to terms with the ramifications of having made something. What was it like writing your second book after the remarkable success of your first? He is a recipient of a Pushcart Prize, two Arizona Commission on the Arts grants, two Lannan Residencies, and a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.Ĭhristopher Nelson: There are probably too many media today for a single book of poems to be an anthem for a generation, but if it were possible, I think my generation would pick Crush.
